Performance Evidence

The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be demonstrated evidence that the candidate has:

  • developed, implemented and evaluated at least one ministry program

In the course of the above the candidate must:

  • use methods for developing ministry programs that meet organisational requirements and protocols
  • engage with stakeholders to develop a program strategy suited to the context and target audience
  • follow the program plan in implementing the program

utilise a structured process for evaluating program outcomes

Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete the tasks outlined in the elements and performance criteria of this unit. This includes knowledge of:

  • key principles, practices and theology applicable to the ministry program to be implemented
  • organisational policies and requirements for ministry programs
  • information relating to the target group including structure, culture and diversity
  • techniques and strategies for engaging stakeholders
  • types of additional support that may be provided to enable participation in ministry programs
  • techniques and strategies for program evaluation
  • legal and ethical considerations for facilitating ministry programs and how these are applied in organisations and individual practice:
    • codes of conduct
    • discrimination
    • duty of care
    • privacy, confidentiality and disclosure
    • work role boundaries – responsibilities and limitations

Performance Criteria

Develop ministry program parameters  

  • Conduct gap analysis to determine the need, target and scope for a ministry program
  • Ascertain the support for a ministry program, resourcing capacity and factors which will impact its delivery
  • Determine key stakeholders, priorities to be addressed, possible strategies and options for action
  • Analyse target audience for the ministry program and key characteristics, social and cultural issues that need to be considered in program design and delivery
  • Determine measures and evidence of program success and possible risks

Design ministry program            

  • Develop suitable program plan in consultation with stakeholders
  • Specify program evaluation plan and monitoring strategies
  • Determine required program resources and develop program resourcing strategy
  • Liaise with supervisors and stakeholders to review ministry program, evaluation plan and resourcing strategies to ensure the plans and strategies are fit for purpose

Implement ministry program    

  • Conduct and evaluate pilots and make adjustments to ensure program achieves its objectives
  • Facilitate and monitor program implementation in accordance with the strategy

Evaluate ministry program         

  • Evaluate ministry program design and outcomes according to the criteria and specifications identified in the program plan
  • Use results of evaluation for revision and ongoing development.

Assessment Criteria

Assessment must be conducted in an environment that reflects workplace conditions, with access to:

  • organisational mission statements
  • resources on contemporary leadership theories and models

Students will provide a verifiable and comprehensive portfolio of evidences of competence.
