Bringing Heaven to Earth
Bringing Heaven to Earth is the heart of Jesus. When teaching His disciples to pray, Jesus said,
"Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done here on earth, just as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:910).
In this prayer pattern, Jesus was careful to place world evangelism in the first two petitions. Notice the two prayer requests that each of his disciples are to pray:
- God's Kingdom is to come and be established here on earth.
- How is God's Kingdom to be established here on earth?
It is to be established in the hearts and lives of men and women as they respond to the message of the Gospel (see John 3).
More on Bringing Heaven to Earth
Throughout our text, Bringing Heaven to Earth, we will see the great commission of Jesus being proclaimed
Mark 16:15, "And He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.'"
God's church, His called-out ones, and His disciples, are to be the instruments that deliver the message of the Gospel to the whole world.
Your will be done on earth, just as it is in heaven.
What is God's will on earth?
We know that one thing which God wills on this earth is that all men would be saved.
"He is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
It is our privileged responsibility to be a catalyst for "bringing heaven to earth" through our Spirit-filled witness in our homes, neighbourhoods, communities, cities, states, country, and world. It is our destiny to make a difference one life at a time. This is Evangelism Kingdom Style! the people of God, forever changed by the love of God, empowered by the Spirit of God, armed with the message of God, sent to demonstrate the grace of God to everyone.
The basic premise of this book is to clearly declare the definitive purpose and commission of the Body of Christ. The Bride has a specific destiny to partner with the Holy Spirit in bringing heaven to earth.
"The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come! And let him who hears say, Come! And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17).
Freely we have received of this life-giving water, and now we are to freely give (Matthew 10:8).
This will be accomplished through different people and various methods, but there is only one message, the message of life through Christ's completed work on the cross.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to Me in Heaven and in the earth. Therefore go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen. (Mat 28:18-20)
